We awoke very early on a misty morning in Port Hardy to catch
our boat. We rolled down
the ramp and made ourselves at home for this most scenic journey. Well, once we we made our way out to sea, we found that scenery was a bit
hard to come by. So we went inside and bided our time, hoping that the fog would lift. A couple of hours went by and we were still in the soup, when suddenly the
skies opened up to reveal a stunningly
beautiful day along the BC coast range.
From then on it was all hands
on deck. We spent the rest of the warm, sunny day cruising the passage as the endless mountains rolled by. We were joined by some
Pacific white-sided dolphins who guided our way past Canada's version of the
Rock of Gibralter. Our voyage continued on into the evening
when we turned up the fjord leading us to our dusky port at Bella Coola. We retired to our room to prepare to explore this beautiful valley to which few tourists make the journey.
