The Rubbertramps On Vancouver Island, part 2

At the heart on Vancouver Island lies and ride into Strathcona Provincial Park. This park is one of the true hidden gems we discovered on our trip. Strathcona is home to glacial lakes and waterfalls. There is plenty of mature forest and some snow-capped peaks. The campground here was my favorite of all the parks we visited. We camped in a grove of ancient cedars and firs next to a roaring river.

Just down the road from Strathcona you will find the village of Gold River with beautiful valley leading down to a fjord and port. From there we worked our way up to the northern tip of the island and the town of Port Hardy where everything seemed to be flying, especially the resident bald eagles.

We didn't run into too many other Americans up here, so I thought it was unusual that they would have a food store that is especially for Americans.

We spent the night here so we could begin the next leg of our adventure. For on the next morning we were going , as they say in Canada, ootnabootnaboot. This boat ride is the Inside Passage Ferry to Bella Coola...
