The Rubbertramps on Vancouver Island

After several weeks in the bush, we decided it was time to reintroduce ourselves to civilization. And no place in the west is quite as civilized as Victoria. With its bustling waterfront and rich native heritage, Vancouver is home to many gardens including a conservatory with many species of exotic flora and fauna. After a good dinner, we declared our day in the city a success. We were then ready to hit the trail again the following day.

The Juan de Fuca trail spans the southwest shore of the island. It takes several days and a ride at each end to hike the whole trail. We did a days worth along the trail hiking through the rainforest to emerge onto beaches with hidden grottoes.

Altough beautiful, the Pacific Coast of Vancouver Island was a bit too damp for us, so we moved northward and inland.
